ATHLETIC DIRECTOR ERIC AMKRAUT

Eric Amkraut joined the staff of the Yeshivah of Flatbush in 2013 as the first-ever full-time Athletic Director and Supervisor of Physical Education in the school’s storied history.  As Athletic Director, Amkraut has oversight of all of the school’s boys and girls athletic teams for the High School (grades 9-12) and the Middle Division (grades 6-8).

Amkraut also oversees the entire school’s K-12 Physical Education program.  Since his arrival, the entire curriculum has had a major revision, with a decided focus on the acquisition of knowledge and skills for lifelong fitness and recreational activity.

Amkraut brings a wealth of experience to the position, having served in a similar capacity for the Anglican International School, Jerusalem before returning to the United States.  While in Israel, Amkraut also served as the founding Commissioner of the Israel Football League, the first-ever fully-equipped tackle football league in Israel, where he spend the formative months of the league instructing every team in the basics of American Football – from how to line up in formation to how to take a hand-off to how to put on the equipment.

Before moving to Israel, Amkraut served as an Athletic Director in the New Jersey public schools.  He headed the programs for the Princeton Regional Public Schools and prior to that performed similar duties for the Asbury Park Public Schools.

Amkraut also has extensive experience in coaching, having headed teams in a wide variety of sports, ranging from basketball to baseball, from soccer to bowling in addition to his work with the IFL.  He also served as the Head Strength and Conditioning Coach for Rutgers University’s Olympic Sports from 1990-1997.

Amkraut is a graduate of Rutgers University, where he earned both a BS in 1989 and an MEd in 1996.

Amkraut resides in Berkeley Heights, NJ with his wife, Helena Hadef, and their 5 children.
