Boys 8th Grade Hockey · MD Boys Hockey Rolls in 2017-18 Season Finale

The Flatbush Middle Division Boys Hockey Team came ready to play on Tuesday night (2/6), and it showed in all aspects as the Falcons scored early and often as they secured a victory in their final game of the 2017-18 season, defeating the North Shore Lions by a score of 19-1 at the Aux Nest in Brooklyn, NY.

This would be the final time the 8th Grade members of the Falcons Hockey team would take to the court for the Yeshivah of Flatbush Middle Division team.  And, they made the most of the opportunity.  Flatbush sounded the horn five times in the opening four minutes of the game, and they never looked back.  They outplayed the Lions in every aspect of the game, and b y the end of the 1st Period, they held an 11-1 advantage.

The second and third periods saw more of the same, with the Falcons adding 4 more goals in each period for the 19-1 final score.

The team was in a celebratory mood afterwards, and Coaches Daniel Esses and Joey Habert were exceedingly proud of the boys, as the coaching pair concluded their first season at the helm of the Flatbush MD Hockey team.  “The boys played hard, as they did all season long, and we were so happy for them to be able to finish the season on such a high note.  With the game in hand, our goal was to make sure all the 8th Graders had the opportunity to play and contribute, with the starters working to set up their teammates as the game progressed.  They did just that, spreading the ball around, and letting their teammates share in the victory.”

NEST NOTES:  Afterwards, Coaches Esses and Habert awarded game balls to the top performers.  The first two game balls went to 3rd star—> Abie Horowitz and 2nd star—> Eli Zirdok.

The final game ball went to 1st star—> Jake Laniado, to whom the coaches awarded the title of team captain as their final action for the 2017-18 season.
