The Flatbush Varsity Boys Hockey Team recorded a big road win Monday night (12/10) when they defeated the North Shore Stars by a score of 2-1 in Great Neck, NY.
Riding an incredibly solid defensive effort, and keyed by the offensive skill of Senior Ezra Dweck, the Falcons took care of business to secure 2 more points in the standings and move one game over .500 on the season.
Flatbush took the early 1-0 lead when Dweck took a feed from Michael Escava and deposited it in the back of the North Shore goal. For his part, Michael Chattah kept the Falcon goal clear of any Stars shots, and at the end of the first period, Flatbush held a 1-0 lead. Dweck doubled both his goals and the Falcon lead early in the second period when he scored on an unassisted shot. Midway through the period, North Shore finally solved Chattah and got on the board, and at the end of 2, Flatbush still held a one-goal lead.
The third and final period was a stale mate, which worked out just fine for the visiting Falcons. Defenseman Mikey Dayan anchored the defense in front of Chattah, and kept the zone clear all night long. Helping the defensive effort was the skill of the Falcon wings to maintain possession on offense. Forechecking kept the pressure on the Stars, and they could never really mount an effective attack in the final period. Chattah made the one-gola lead stand up, and Flatbush left the Island with a 2-1 victory in hand.
