Bio:

Miriam Wielgus is an avid runner and a long-time member of the YoF Faculty.  Together, these traits made her the ideal candidate to be the first-ever Head Coach of the Flatbush Track and Field team when the team was formed in the Spring of 2014.
Wielgus has been running seriously for the past 10 years, has competed in numerous 5K road races and 4 half-marathons. She has placed before herself the goal of running her first full marathon in the near future. To complement her passion for running in directing the team, she brought alongside her professional coach Adele Khaski to help create a top-notch Flatbush track team. In the inaugural season, Flatbush’s boys’ and girls’ teams successfully competed at two Yeshiva League spring meets, both held at  Kushner in Livingston, NJ.The goal is to build on this early success and to expand the number of opportunities our student-athletes will have for competition.
Wielgus is not just a teacher at the school, she serves as the Chair of the Jewish History Department.  She is the proud mother of 5 children,  and even prouder grandmother of 4. She lives locally in Flatbush and has been teaching at the Yeshivah since 1997. In her spare time she enjoys running, biking, playing tennis, ice-skating  and snowboarding.
